This morning I was reflecting...
There was a point in my life, not too long ago, when thinking back on that time, I felt very vulnerable and emotional. When in the company of people who were new I would feed off of the excitement. I made friends very easily, requiring them to share every detail of who and how they are in the world. This seems ridiculous now. Why require such intimacy from these people? I feel that even more quickly these friendships were lost because of the insane amount of intimacy, I thought was so important. Why was I so obsessed with the prospect of a new person? Maybe it was my age, both mental and emotional. Whatever that some thing was, I hope that I have in some way 'grown' out of it. Trying to get to know people takes time. I am very familiar with this length of time. Even though I want to know people instantly, I feel like the best people will surprise you right away, but finding out why is worth the wait.

Misto thoughts
Another day sitting, with no plans, and on this rainy day I feel pretty good. I'm calmed when there is rain. This morning in particular I'm going for a walk...a long walk. I hope it takes most of my day and that I can do as I please without too many distractions. That would be a great day.

Landing
One if the most amazing things I have ever been witness to was, without a doubt, the landing of the Mars rover Curiosity. Even though this moment took part within the last twenty-four hours, I am still emotional. Early this morning, I took part in what I think is the single largest step for mankind. We will soon know more about the Red Planet than anyone before our generation. And, whether you believe it or not, it is possible that more than one human will step foot on that planet within our life time. I have no aspirantion to travel into space or to explore the universe, but I recognize the grandeur of this venture and the scoop of the process to get there. I appreciate the significance of exploring the universe and want to better understand this Space that surrounds me. What an amazing thing!

Todays Cup
Well, today marks a trial...I'm convinced that drinking coffee so early in the morning, so much coffee so early in the morning, is distroying my stomach. That being assumed, I'm going grocery shopping, I created a menu which includes breakfast, and I'm hoping I can over come my wired eating pattern.
So here's to the first day of an earl grey morning with breakfast, lunch, and high protein dinner!
I'm celebrating with an iced Misto at noon instead of two cups before 8am.
My body hates me...

Todays Cup
As I sit in one of my favorite coffee shopes, I am draw into conversation with my favorite barista, Genius. I also work for this shope part-time and outside of being an employee I spend every day with this place. I am dedicated to coffee, to independent businesses, to small (although Mil town is not so small) town coffee culture, and to a vision to provide excellent coffee to everyone. It's not rocket science; running a coffee shope, but it does take some thing special. The key is community. Without smart, passionate people who are invested in the same vision you will lose every thing. Not even the best coffee will keep people coming back. From the perspective of a patron you are investing in a service and a product that you could do without. Everyone can make coffee, especially at home, and everyone can save a buck by staying at home, or simply stop consuming the product. As an employee, the investment is simple too. Foremost, you're in it for the money. You need a job, but what interests you in the beginning is some thing more notable. And the same can be said whether you are the owner, manager, barista, or patron. You love coffee! You're not just addicted, you love the smell of coffee, the taste of coffee, the sound of the brewer or Espresso machine, and the feel of a warm cup of coffee in your hands. But all this would be nothing without a community of people consumed by an addiction to being served a product they could do without. Funny how that works, isn't it?
Just a thought.

Today's Cup!
Almost every cup I have consumed I have documented. I'm trying to keel track of as many details as possible. However, I have missed a few cups and I also lack the will power to keep up with posting these details. For some reason I feel that I need to keep adding material to this blog that is not only coffee, but some thing more substantial.
This being stated, I think I'll just hey over it and start keeping you up to date. More content will be added and I promise numerous cups of coffee. Maybe I will keep a running tally of every cup.
I welcome your support and your cups too! What are you drinking?

Notable History
January 1
The first day of the year in the Gregorian calendar.
Most western European countries changed the start of the year to January 1 before they adopted the Gregorian calendar. For example, Scotland changed the start of the Scottish New Year to January 1 in 1600. England, Ireland and the British colonies changed the start of the year to January 1 in 1752. Later that year in September, the Gregorian calendar was introduced throughout Britain and the British colonies. These two reforms were implemented by the Calendar (New Style) Act 1750.
January 1 became the official start of the year as follows:
- 1522 The Republic of Venice
- 1544 Holy Roman Empire (Germany)
- 1556 Spain, Portugal
- 1559 Prussia, Sweden
- 1564 France
- 1576 Southern Netherlands
- 1579 Lorraine
- 1583 United Provinces of the Netherlands (northern)
- 1600 Scotland
- 1700 Russia
- 1721 Tuscany
- 1752 Great Britain (excluding Scotland) and its colonies
